During the past 14 years, Miami Beach International Fashion Week has evolved into one of the world's premier fashion events spotlighting designers from all over the world. As the largest international fashion event in the U.S., Miami Beach International Fashion Week has brought the best in international fashion, beauty, music, cuisine and art to the forefront of the American fashion scene. Throughout the years, this event has showcased designers from Spain, India, Italy, Greece, Canada, Malaysia, Kingdom of Bahrain, Pakistan, Lebanon, UEA, Australia, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and Central & South America. The event runs through Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 6:00-11:00 p.m., nightly.
It’s the countdown to the major fashion event, and designers are painstakingly putting the finishing touches on their creations, choosing just the right accessories and arranging the runway lineups.
The 14th annual Miami Beach International Fashion Week began Wednesday, bringing together top emerging designers from all over the world to showcase their talent to an international audience.
“We keep getting bigger and bigger,” said Beth Sobol, president and executive producer of the four-day event. “Designers are coming from more countries, and different countries,” including, for the first time, the Kingdom of Bahrain and Greece.
This year’s event promises to showcase 55 designers from 25 countries. It’s touted as the largest Latin American and international designer event in the United States. Over the years, the fashion event, which has also been held on the mainland, has launched emerging designers’ careers in the United States, introducing them to American buyers and consumers.
Miami Beach International Fashion Week, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, launched with a swimwear show from five designers on Wednesday evening. That was followed by a two-part show, “Prelude,” with seven top Florida emerging designers presenting capsule collections of eight outfits each, and the “Miami Style Showcase,” featuring four of South Florida’s top established designers. Each designer presented 20 outfits. (*they may be viewed at the image gallery link provided at the bottom of this piece.)
Miami Beach International Fashion Week (MBIFW) is the longest standing fashion event in Miami, and has received worldwide recognition and fame for discovering and showcasing the best fashion from around the world. Featuring eminent designers, celebrities, and musicians from nearly every continent, this event promises to once again set the stage as the gateway to the world's most innovative talents.
The truth is this, you cannot go wrong combining Miami and fashion, period. It really does not matter what designer or where they are from; whether they are a student designer or a global mogul in the fashion world, Miami will always bring any fashion enthusiast exactly what they are seeking and more. Especially where swimwear is concerned, you are sure to see what is hot for the next coming season, in Miami, as they are always an edge ahead of the rest of the country. If you see it being presented on a runway or on a beach in Miami--you will see it all over very shortly thereafter.
If you have the time and are in the Miami area this weekend, grab a fashion show or two as the best features are yet to come.
