Insects make a stunning fashion statement whether it be a bug brooch on your shoulder or a glittering spider on your finger. How about some gold and enamel butterfly clips for your hair?
Insects are not a new idea in fashion. We can see shimmery beetles from Victorian times mixed with romantic bird motifs. The Art Noveau period included dragonflies and peacocks which are two of my favorites. Peacocks are super hot right now in home furnishings. All the way back in 2500 BC-500 BC butterfly images can be seen.
The use of bugs in fashion is not for the demure. It makes a bold and powerful impression and they are just perfect for creative dressers. Bugs can be used to hold a scarf in place or put through leather for a belt buckle look. Nothing is more amazing than a cluster of crawly creatures. These babies do not need to match your outfit and may be more effective if they just add a contrasting pop of color. If you are on the conservative side try a small bee or dragonfly for starters.
Don't Bug Off but rather Bug On and select a flying or crawling friend for your next fashion fabulous outfit!
