Fashion for less at Runway Rundown

Kim Hazle, co-founder of RunwayRundown.com, has found fashion inspiration in a highly unlikely place: the recession. Runway Rundown is a daily fashion blog that takes runway looks worth thousands of dollars and finds the same look for much, much less. Hazle was prompted to create the site after coming to the realization that there were a countless number of fashion lovers just like her who were living off of very limited resources due to the recession, high rents, lost jobs etc. “If I was shopping on a tight budget, I figured there were many others girls out there doing the same thing. I want shoppers that love fashion as much as I do to still be able to reinvent themselves and their wardrobe seasonally and not feel bad about it,” Hazle said.

Although the clothes featured on Runway Rundown are affordable, especially in comparison to their designer counterparts, style or quality is not lost. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the looks for less the site featured were exceedingly similar to the more expensive designer pieces they were supposed to emulate. It is clear that a real effort has been put into finding the right pieces to feature on the website which is incredibly refreshing after seeing disappointing look for less pieces in magazines that relate neither to each other nor to the reader. When choosing clothing for the site, Hazle not only picks things that she likes but also things that she feels others will want to wear making it an eclectic grouping where there is literally something for everyone. These well-chosen pieces can probably be attributed not only to Hazle’s love for fashion, but also her background in the fashion industry. “I spent a few years working alongside designer Robert Rodriguez and I learned more than I could have in fashion school. My time with Rodriguez instilled the desire to forecast and watch trends and utilize those trends in my day to day wardrobe,” Hazle says.

In the future, Hazle hopes to continue working with her partner, Jamie Evans, to create an entire community of people interested in fashion that can connect with each other on the Runway Rundown website to discuss new looks and styles. It appears that the pair is well on their way.
