Look out New York! Look out Los Angeles! Fashion Focus Chicago celebrates Chicago’s fashion industry and community by featuring up and coming designers. This week long event highlights affordable fashion, industry happenings, runway shows, and designer events. On October 15th, there was a fashion show, Dress Code, at the Cultural Center showcasing designers graduating from Columbia College Chicago, Illinois Institute of Art, International Academy of Design and Technology and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
This is such an amazing event because like fitness brings self confidence and improves self esteem, being successful in your wardrobe can as well. The Fashion Focus event gave these amazing graduates and students a chance to be seen. All of the students featured in the Dress Code fashion show were able to show four looks each. Dress Code was a way to highlight the fashion design schools in Chicago and display the best student’s work. Styles ranged from futuristic, to bohemian, to vintage corsets. The collections seen at this event have set the bar high for new designers trying to get into the field.
Industry Day on October 21st is just another great way Fashion Focus Chicago is helping out up and coming designers. These panels and open discussions will give designers a way to learn more about the industry and what they need to do to get their collections out there. This presentation will also discuss fashion information and trends for the future seasons.
Amalgamation 2012 is a fashion show that features 15 independent designers while raising money for Girls Rule!, an organization that provides educational programs that build bright futures for young girls. It’s a Harlem Renaissance-themed show that also highlights Chicago jazz and blues musicians. Amalgamation is a great event that helps out everyone who’s involved!
Events like Fashion Forward and the various trunk shows going on are a great way for designers to show their collections to a large audience! Fashion Focus Chicago is dedicated to supporting talented designers from all walks of life. They encourage growth from designers by providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to make connections and succeed in this difficult industry.
400 local designers and 300 independent boutiques are able to have a voice at this weeklong celebration. Shopping, fashion shows, trunk shows, panels, free food, and live music; what more could you want!?
