July 31, 2010 – Fashion enthusiasts from all over Denver gathered at McIlvoy Park in Olde Town Arvada on Saturday for Fashion Fest 2010. The event is one of the Denver area’s largest fashion shows, and featured fashion shows from local designers Tricia Hoke, KaiT by Kaitlyn Thomas, Laman Blu by Holli Gibson, and D’Lola Couture by Deedee Vicory. Guests who braved the afternoon sun were also treated to a wide array of local fashion vendors and were given the opportunity to purchase bracelets that would allow them to sample food from restaurants in Olde Town Arvada.

The shows, emceed by Christine Pomonio, kicked off at 4 p.m. with the new designer contest, in which 18 designers competed for a prize package worth over $300. There was a deep breadth of creativity from Denver’s emerging talent. Looks ranged from a romantic, fairy-inspired lace back dress to a 60’s inspired vintage cocktail dress styled with accessories suitable for Jackie O herself. In an odd twist of fate, one of the judges for the competition was Denver’s own Mondo Guerra, who is competing on the current season of Lifetime’s Project Runway.

Up next was the Tricia Hoke signature collection, which featured several adjustable looks that could be worn in many ways, including a pair of pants that converted into a purse. For a more detailed description of this show, check out the Aurora Beauty Examiner.

Tricia Hoke was followed by KaiT by Kaitlyn Thomas. The Fort Collins based designer showcased her Spring 2011 collection, which featured a more casual feel than her previous collections. For an interview with Kaitlyn Thomas, click here.

At 7 p.m., the audience was treated to a childrenswear show by designer Holli Gibson. Holli showcased her Fall 2010 Laman Blu collection, which is now available in stores. She also gave the audience a sneak peak at her Spring 2011 line. For more on this show, check out the Aurora Beauty Examiner.

Headlining the evening was a collection of bridal fashions from Arvada based designer Deedee Vicory. Her D’Lola Couture line featured wedding dresses for any taste, ranging from the ultimate fantasy bridal gown to simple, elegant fare.
