Getthebuzz716: Tell me a little about your brand. Where are you from?
Tanushree Pande: My brand POPLYN is a conceptual ready to wear brand where each collection is inspired by my travels, global cultural influences and day to day life experiences. I am originally from India I lived in South Africa and is currently based in Canada.
Getthebuzz716: What does fashion week Fashion Art Toronto mean to you?
Tanushree Pande: |FAT| is fresh young designers and artists all coming together.
Getthebuzz716: How would you define your Brand?
Tanushree Pande: My brand is constantly bridging the gap between conceptual couture and ready to wear. Each piece I create has a story and a special significance in the whole collection.
Getthebuzz716: How long does it usually take you to construct a piece?
Tanushree Pande: Depends on what I am making it can be anywhere from a few hours to a week.
Getthebuzz716: Describe the general process you go through to design and What's your favorite part about conceptualizing a design?
Tanushree Pande: I always follow a theme/ a reason behind each collection. Nothing is made just to blend in with the trends.
It keeps things interesting as every new season starts with a fresh perspective.
Getthebuzz716: What matters to you most as a designer?
Tanushree Pande: That I fall in love with each piece I create.
Getthebuzz716: What do you believe makes a quality design?
Tanushree Pande: Originality.
Getthebuzz716: How would you define the style your line exemplifies? *What are some of your fashion goals?
Tanushree Pande: I don't usually follow trends. My line is conceptual all the while being every bit wearable.
I would love to open a design studio of my own.
Getthebuzz716: What other experience do you have in the fashion industry (stylist, retail, marketing, etc.)?
Tanushree Pande: I have worked as a designer under various labels and brands across the globe for almost 10 years.
Getthebuzz716: What are your favorite patterns/materials [prints] to work with and why?
Tanushree Pande: I love working with different fabrics mixed together. My recent favorite is sheers & vegan leather worked into a look.
