A First Friday reception will be held for the opening weekend of Michael-Birch Pierce’s art in the main gallery of Quirk Gallery tonight from 5 to 9 p.m.
“My work investigates the power of personal adornment to construct and conceal identity within the superficial and ostentatious,” the artist said in a statement to the gallery. “I take glamorous modern embellishment back to its historic purpose of protection, spirituality and personal narrative.”
Pierce’s work will be on display through Friday, February 22.
Quirk Gallery is located at 311 West Broad Street and can be reached at 804/644-5450. Summer gallery hours are Mondays-Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
