A woman was found murdered and dismembered in her Farmington home Sunday, and her boyfriend will be charged in the slaying. Police have identified the victim as Kaitlin Elizabeth Hehir, 29, an employee of 47th District Court in Farmington Hills.
Hehir’s boyfriend reported her missing on Sunday afternoon, he told police he dropped her off at their home in the 23800 block of Colchester about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Farmington Police Chief Robert Schulz said the boyfriend told officers Hehir left to go back to the party and never returned.
During the investigation officers checked the home and found “bloody plastic,” police said. Schulz said officers suspected foul play and after questioning the boyfriend further, he “confessed to having a verbal argument that turned physical.”
Investigators then obtained a search warrant and discovered the body. An autopsy determined that Hehir had been strangled.
The boyfriend is in custody and expected to be charged by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office sometime today.
Chief Schulz said this is the first homicide in Farmington since the summer of 2005.
