On today’s delicious episode of “Farmhouse Rules,” Nancy Fuller, the born and raised farm girl from Upstate New York is serving up and eating good food. Her recipes are called rules, and these rules have been handed down for generations. Nancy has been a chef and caterer for over twenty-five years and as a mother of six and grandmother of thirteen, she is still madly in love with her city boy hubby, David.
In this episode titled, “Grill Marks the Spot,” Nancy’s daughter Nita and her family are coming for a visit, and she is cooking a few surprises. As the kids come running to their grandparents for their hugs and kisses, Nancy tells fans that she went shopping earlier and bought presents for the kids at “The Bee’s Knees,” a great toy shop in Hudson, N.Y.
Today is a wonderful day for grilling, and on the menu are; Grilled Salt & Pepper Crusted Rib Eye Steaks, Grilled Banana Boats, Creamy Orange Float and Garlicky Green Salad. Recipes for this episode are found here.
As Nancy prepared the marinade, using fresh garlic, rosemary and thyme, put the steaks in a zipper bag to keep them soaking, she put them in the refrigerator to keep them cold for two hours. She them took two garlic bulbs, cut the top off, sprinkled with oil, salt and pepper and wrapped each in foil and put on a flat pan with baby fingerling potatoes, she rubbed with oil and sprinkled on the salt and pepper and put in the oven at 400 degrees for 45 minutes.
While the potatoes and garlic were cooling, Nancy made a quick run into town, to visit her friend Kim at the “Chocolate Bar” to get some sweet treats for the banana boats they are going to grill. She found chocolate covered animal crackers, and several other chocolate covered treats, just hoping they would make it home because she started eating before she left the store. Do you blame her?
Just as Nancy finished the salad, she heard the kids arriving. After they got their hugs, she sent them on a treasure hunt to find the toys she hid for them.
As David was preparing the steaks on the grill, Nancy made some banana boats for the kids, she scooped out some of the banana and stuffed it with chocolate, then wrapped in foil for grilling.
After an awesome meal, the kids had a ball enjoying the orange floats, but the banana boats were the hit of the day. When the meal was done, the wind came up and the whole family had a ball flying a kite on this episode of “Farmhouse Rules.”
