The 2010-2011 Fargo Force roster will begin to take shape July 25-28. Players will gather in West Fargo, North Dakota on an invite-only basis for tryouts. Players will compete for roster spots with over seven hours of ice time that covers a four day span.
A mix of returning players, high school standouts, and junior hockey league veterans will battle each other to earn the respect of Head Coach Steve Johnson and his staff. It all begins on Sunday, July 25th at 6:00 p.m. Skating and skill drills will be conducted on opening night. The players will be on the ice from 6:00-7:15 p.m. and they will take a short break and then head back out from 7:30-8:45 p.m.
On Monday, July 26th, the fun will kick up to a higher level, as will the competition. Prospects will be split into four teams that will play a round robin of games. Game times are 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 6:00 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 27th will have the same scrimmage schedule as Monday.
The tryout camp will conclude Wednesday, July 28th. The coaches will handpick two all-star teams from the original four teams. The all-star teams will compete in two games. The first of two competitive battles will take place at 9:00 a.m. Game two is slated for 10:30 a.m.
Fargo is more or less set between the pipes with Ryan Massa and Zane Gothberg. If a third goalie is desired, he could be found this weekend. It looks as though the Force has six or seven defense that figure to make the team, but there are quite a few open slots up front to be filled.
Some young athletes will see their United States Hockey League dreams come true starting with this tryout camp July 25-28.
The tryouts are open to the public and free of charge. All action will take place at West Fargo (N.D.) Veteran’s Arena Rink 2.
