Ubisoft has just announced that the venerable Far Cry franchise will receive a compilation titled Far Cry Wild Expeditions for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 set for release on Feb 14th in the UK, reports CVG.
Included in the bundle is an HD remaster of the series genesis titled Far Cry Classic, in addition to Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3, and the wildly successful 80's throwback, Far Cry Blood Dragon.
While Ubisoft is shy to point to any direct price, CVG also discovered that the Dutch retailer Game Mania currently has the product listed for €43 (£33, roughly $54 USD).
The Far Cry series got it's start back in 2004 as a PC only title, receiving favorable reviews on both the user and critic front, justifying the series port to Xbox in 2005. Since then, the series has seen multiple platforms and titles, ranging from the almost too-realistic Far Cry 2, to the immensely successful Far Cry 3. Ubisoft senior vice president of marketing and sales Tony Key said in an interview with CVG earlier in 2013,
"We're totally psyched from [Far Cry 3]. It's a great brand, and now it's got the recognition it deserves, so we're clearly going to make another one: more on that soon."
As CVG states, after the near 6 million copies of Far Cry 3 sold, Ubisoft views it as "another major" franchise, all but ensuring a sequel in the future. While Ubisoft has not verified or confirmed any sequel or titles in the works to add to the Far Cry library, one can assume the next entry will make it's debut on next gen hardware.
