It looks like the first running back casualty of the 2013 NFL season has occurred. According to ESPN on Oct. 2, St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has informed Daryl Richardson that he will not be starting in the team’s week five game.
Here are the fantasy football running back rankings for week five.
1. LeSean McCoy – The New York Giants are horrible and they can’t really stop anyone. The one man who benefits most from Chip Kelly’s offense is McCoy, who should have another huge day as he continues to lead the NFL in rushing.
2. Jamaal Charles – Alex Smith won’t find a lot to work with against Tennessee, but Jamaal Charles will. The star running back should be running hard and strong the entire game.
3. Reggie Bush – In PPR leagues, especially, Reggie Bush will be outstanding this week. Green Bay is not the best defensive unit in the NFL, and while Matthew Stafford will throw the ball a lot, expect to see Bush’s number called just as much.
4. Matt Forte – Matt Forte will find plenty of holes against the New Orleans Saints as the Bears work to slow down the Drew Brees passing attack. Expect Forte to run strong to control the clock and also be used in the passing game as Chicago tries to wear down the Saints.
5. Marshawn Lynch – Lynch has missed some practice this week, but he missed last week’s practice as well and played. A lot of people may be worried about Lynch’s lack of 100 yard games so far this season, but expect him to run well against the Colts defensive line.
6. Darren Sproles
7. Giovani Bernard
8. Ray Rice
9. Fred Jackson
10. Arian Foster
11. Frank Gore
12. Eddie Lacy
