Fantasy Football POV: Denver will beat New England in AFC Championship game

Denver kicker Matt Prater will kick the deciding field goal as the Broncos will beat New England, 31-28, in the AFC Championship game and earn the right to face the San Francisco 49ers in a chilly Super Bowl XLVIII.

The game will feature two of the best passing quarterbacks in NFL history. Denver's Peyton Manning was fantasy football's MVP and leading scorer this season with 516 points. He threw for 5,477 yards and tossed 55 touchdown passes. The Patriots' Tom Brady led a revamped corps of receivers and passed for 4,343 yards and threw 25 touchdown passes.

In their only meeting of the regular season, New England won 34-31 in overtime at home. Brady threw three touchdown passes and Manning threw two TD passes and one interception.

This time Manning enters Sunday's game with a home-field advantage - the Broncos are 8-1 in Denver this season - and an impressive running game. It may be Denver's superior ability to run and stop the run that decides this game.

The Broncos Knowson Moreno finished No. 4 among fantasy football running backs with 250 points. He scored 13 touchdowns and ran for 1,038 yards during the regular season. He also caught 60 passes for 548 yards.

New England counters with the biggest surprise of the playoffs - running back LaGarrette Blount. Blount scored four touchdowns and ran for 166 yards in the Patriots' 43-22 pounding of the Indianapolis Colts last Saturday.

The Patriots will find it tough to run the football as the Broncos have the No.1 rushing defense in the NFL. Denver held San Diego to 65 rushing yards last Sunday, which matches the Broncos' per game average during the regular season.

Denver also has the best fantasy football wide receiver in Demaryius Thomas. Thomas passed an injured Calvin Johnson in the last game of the regular season to lead all wide receivers with 266 points and 14 touchdown catches.

Peyton Manning has other effective targets in top 10 tight end Julius Thomas and wide receivers Eric Decker and former Patriot Wes Welker.

Welker and his Denver teammates should celebrate a trip to the Super Bowl after they beat New England in this AFC Championship game.
