Darren Sproles left the New Orleans Saints vs. New York Jets game with what might is called an ankle injury. According to NY Daily News columnist Manish Mehta on Nov. 3, Sproles left the game on the first drive and he will not return.
On that first drive, Sproles took a hard hit from Antonio Allen after catching a two-yard pass from Drew Brees.
Replacing Sproles in the special teams return responsibilities is wide receiver Lance Moore. According to Mehta, Sproles is now out for the game with the injury. Sproles is also being checked out for a possible concussion as well. It was Sproles only offensive touch of the game.
Update: Sproles injury is a concussion
With Sproles out of the offense, New Orleans will work with the rotation of Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram, but running the ball has never been a priority. Thomas is the best bet to replace Sproles in catching the ball out of the backfield.
The Darren Sproles injury isn’t the only one from the game, as Jets wide receiver Jeremy Kerley left the game with an elbow injury and won’t return in the contest. Kerley had only one reception for one yard in the game before his injury.
The Saints currently lead the Jets 7-6, with Brees throwing a touchdown to tight end Jimmy Graham and the Jets answering with two field goals. There is 10 minutes still to play in the second quarter.
