Major fantasy baseball injuries are coming early in the 2013 MLB fantasy season. According to NBC Sports, Aramis Ramirez left the Milwaukee Brewers game on April 5 with a left knee sprain and will end up on the disabled list.
The injury came in the fourth inning. Rickie Weeks singled and was on first when Ramirez came up to bat. Ramirez hit a single to left field, sending Weeks to third. However, Ramirez headed towards second and slid in awkwardly trying to beat out the throw. He sprained his left knee on the slide and remained down in pain, before finally getting helped back off the field.
Ramirez underwent an MRI and the results came back confirming that he will end up on the 15-day disabled list. Josh Prince was activated to replace him on the Brewers' roster. Ramirez commented that the injury felt worse than the sprained knee he suffered in spring training. He missed two weeks with that injury.
Aramis Ramirez is one of the top third basemen in fantasy baseball, averaging over 20 home runs a season over the past three, while hitting an impressive 105 RBIs in 2012. Over the first week of the 2013 MLB season, Ramirez was hitting .385 with two RBIs. Yuniesky Betancourt should replace him in the lineup.
