'Fantastic Four' reboot with 'Chronicle' director and Matthew Vaughn

Before Chris Evans fought alongside Marvel's The Avengers as Captain America: The First Avenger, he was literally on fire as Johnny Storm, the Human Torch for the Fantastic Four.

Now, a spokesperson for FOX told The Wrap that plans for a FF reboot are underway with Matthew Vaughn signed on as producer and Josh Trank directing.

Vaughn wrote and directed both Kick-Ass, the 2010 comedy hit about a teen who becomes a real-life superhero, and 2011's X-Men: First Class, the prequel that followed the early years of Professor X and Magneto. He is producing both the upcoming Kick-Ass 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past, and is also one of the writers for the latter.

The Fantastic Four came out in the summer of 2005 with Evans, Ioan Gruffudd (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic), Jessica Alba (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), and Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm/the Thing) as the dysfunctional surrogate superhero family; it was then followed with 2008's Rise of the Silver Surfer.

The reboot is set for a March 2015 release.
