Mark Millar, a comic creator, was hired by 20th Century Fox to assist them in the development of the Marvel films they create. Millar’s position as consultant is to make the characters true to the Marvel Comics history in a consistent and cohesive way. The outcome is two “X-Men” films released over the next two years and following those up with a “Fantastic Four” one year later.
In 2014, we expect to see “The Wolverine” in theaters during the summer and Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” hitting screens the following summer. Josh Trank’s “Fantastic Four” is slated to hit theaters in the spring of 2015.
The “Fantastic Four” reboot is due to hit theaters on March 6, 2015. The film was pushed into development a couple of years ago when “X-Men: First Class” was released a bit sooner than expected.
A special effects artist at the studio discussed talk of a CGI version of Thing, however, Josh Trank quickly became a hot commodity after his low-budget “Chronicle” became a hit. He was brought in to develop and helm the reboot of “Fantastic Four.”
Trank will begin filming the reboot in early 2014. It seems to collide with “Shadow of the Colossus,” although it means that Fox will have a stream of Marvel movies for three consecutive years.
The comic book superhero film line up is filled with releases in 2015. “Fantastic Four” will have to compete with “The Avengers 2,” “Ant-Man” and possibly “Justice League.”
