"Fantastic Four" follows "X-Men: Days of Future Past"

21st Century Fox announced yesterday (Oct 1st) that screenwriter Simon Kinberg, who recently completed the script for X-Men: Days of Future Past, is now tasked with writing the reboot of The Fantastic Four. Simon Kinberg and Matthew Vaughn, one of the producers on X-Men: Days of Future Past, will also be producing the feature.

Director Josh Trank is still attached to direct the reboot which is scheduled for theatrical release in March 2015.

No information on the plot has been divulged but it is difficult to imagine a reboot of their origin without an accident that bestows them with fantastic powers and the intellectual rivalry between Dr. Reed Richards and Dr. Victor von Doom.

The producing team behind the reboot seems well-versed in comics and so fans should be excited about this announcement. However, the reboot of The Fantastic Four will face a lot more competition from other heroes than its previous releases. Both Avengers 2: The Age of Ultron and Batman vs. Superman are set for a summer 2015 release. With competition like those, The Fantastic Four needs to knock it out of the park in order to battle against both the Avengers and Batman and Superman. 2015 looks to be a very great year for comic fans.
