South Florida (Miami) – is officially jazzier than ever; the 8th annual Jazz in the Gardens kicked off yesterday evening with riveting performances from Fantasia, Charlie Wilson & New Edition as well as others. Thousands headed out in droves to the Sun Life Stadium for the international music-festival event that specializes in showcasing legendary performers in their ‘raw form’ – the most-telling space for any artist.
Namely, Fantasia “Free Yourself” Barrino – quite bold and barefoot shimmied her way on-stage to perform for the mega-audience; pouring her heart out, in every note like the true chanteuse that she is – not thinking this was only Day 1 of the two-day extravaganza.
Although, Robyn Fenty (Rihanna) was nowhere in sight – fans still lit up, as it was Fantasia who ‘shined bright like diamond’ last night; almost bringing the audience to tears during her 'live' closing performance of “Lose to Win” – the official first-single from her fourth LP, Side Effects of You in stores in April 23rd.
Recently, I caught up with @Tasiasword Friday evening during the Jazz in the Gardens – Press Conference where I was explicit in asking, which award or music accolade that she’s won, makes Fantasia the most proud. The newly svelte-figured singer responded with...
My Grammy...The Color Purple...doing Broadway!!!"
Most expectantly the 8th Annual, Jazz in the Gardens reached that trophy-status, as Fantasia appeared equally and humbly honored just to perform at this year's event. As of 6:57 p.m. EST yesterday, just moments after the singer finished her musical-set it was almost unanimous; Fantasia 'raised the bar' for a whole new jazz music-festival – particularly for Day 2 performers which include Earth, Wind & Fire, Mary Mary, Ne-Yo & Monica.
