Electronic Dance Music (EDM), arguably the most popular music currently on the planet, visited Indianapolis, Indiana, Friday night (September 13, 2013) in the form of the 1st annual WheelHouse Festival, a two-day electronic dance music event held outdoors at Opti Park with after-parties indoors at The Vogue in Broad Ripple. According to event co-producer, Matt Schwegman, "1,600 fans took part in the inaugural festival's first day and we are expecting many more on Saturday; day two."
Friday the 13th did not wreak havoc or cause any undue duress as the magic of the first day of WheelHouse Festival was felt in the form of ideal weather conditions, a variety of food vendors and interactive activities and high-energy standout performances by Chicago-based DJ's J2K and Autobot, known as Flosstradamus, and headliner, legendary DJ and Producer Paul Oakenfold performing at Opti Park and Chicago-based DJ, originally from Zionsville, Topher Jones at the evening's after-party at the Vogue. Oakenfold's nearly ninety-one minutes mesmerized the all-ages crowd. Excitement was also heightened with the added attraction of Lu Sanders and the Vogue Dancers, along with the Blonde Bombshell dancers. Other DJ talent on the bill Friday were A Squared DJ's, Keys N Krates, OhBeOne, PM Cadillac G, Tritonal and Dub Knight.
