Fans love 'Safe Haven' despite bad critic reviews (Video)

Critics are ripping apart “Safe Haven,” but according to a Feb. 18 Yahoo! Movies report, the film is a big hit with fans. The romance stars Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough and is the latest adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel.

Critics hate the surprise ended, centered around Jo, a character played by Cobie Sulders from “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Avengers.” Here’s a spoiler: a plot twist is revealed about Jo that brings the movie into the super natural realm out of nowhere. This has made it the brunt of many jokes and jabs from critics.

Duhamel plays a widower named Alex who lost his wife to cancer and is raising two small children alone. Hough plays a young woman with a secret past who goes by the name “Katie.” Jo is a significant player in both of their lives, but her exact role isn’t revealed until the end of the film.

Fans are singing praise for “Safe Haven” across the Internet. Those familiar with other film adaptations from Nicholas Sparks or his novels won’t be thrown off at all by the ending.
