The Cleveland Browns fell to 3-3 on the season after losing to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The loss came after the Browns went into the locker room at the half with a 17-7 lead. The disastrous second half included a sloppy defense and an offense that couldn’t keep the first half momentum moving. Cleveland fans are now looking for an answer to the question, “Why Weeden?”
Brandon Weeden has had nothing but controversy while in Cleveland. As a starting quarterback this season, Weeden has all three of Cleveland’s losses. His decision-making skills have been put into question. He has been criticized for his lengthy release time and staring down receivers. Others have looked at his inconsistency as a passer. Even after recovering from an injured finger, the Browns went with Bryan Hoyer over Weeden until he was injured on the first drive of the game.
Weeden also isn’t winning over the fans in the city. One fan put out an ad on Craigslist this week looking for a quarterback to replace him. Fans in Cleveland will either love or hate a player, and when Weeden makes a mistake, the whole stadium lets him know it with their boo’s. On their final drive of the game on Sunday, Weeden made a huge mistake when he underhand tossed the ball for an interception. Cleveland fans don’t trust Weeden and the only way that they will is if he starts leading the team to victories instead of heartache. Cleveland has named Weeden as next weekend’s starter, but the fans have driven other players out before too.
