Brad Paisley is excited to see his fans on Thursday, March 1, at Baltimore's 1st Mariner Arena. Yes, that is correct. As anxious as fans are to see one of country music's superstars bring his "The Virtual Reality Tour" to them, the Academy of Country Music's 2011 Top Male Entertainer of the Year feels the same about his followers.
Promoting his ninth studio album, This is Country Music, this three-time Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter makes an extreme effort to be accessible to the people who have supported him on his journey to success. His fan club web site is not something he is far removed from.
In fact, it seems he follows his fan activity as much as they keep up-to-date on his life. The site includes his Twitter feed, @BradPaisley, which he uses frequently. It is an anomaly for such a well-known celebrity to regularly mingle with patrons. Yet, it seems Paisley goes out of his way to do so.
For each concert, members of his fan club can enter a lottery drawing for a "Meet and Greet" session with the star and anyone on the tour present at the time. Judging by the comments left on the site, many have achieved their dream of having a real, down-to-earth experience. This is not just a quick autograph queue. He greets them with the excitement and respect he feels he should in order to connect with each and every one personally.
A challenge for security and crowd control, Paisley encourages fans to embrace him safely in front of the stage. He wants and needs the interaction. It is the lives of these people that are the forces behind writing hit songs. He is one of them and discourages event organizers from setting things up in any other way.
Lucky concertgoers will get the opportunity to see CMA New Artist of the Year, The Band Perry and 2011 American Idol winner, Scotty McCreery as well. Check out the arena web site for ticket info, directions, and show time.
