On Monday, Lady Gaga appeared on Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" to possibly remind the general public she still exists. On Tuesday evening, Gaga will be performing the latest single from her album ARTPOP, which has been rumored to have been the biggest money loss in record label history. But in her latest publicity stunt, Gaga has appeared to anger her own fans.
Ticket sales for Lady Gaga's upcoming ARTRAVE tour have been very slow. Where Gaga used to be able to sell out five shows at New York City's Madison Square Garden, tickets are still available for her one show in May. Thousands of tickets remain for shows in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Florida, Washington D.C. and almost every other city. Gaga is being outsold by Katy Perry in every single market both stars are playing in.
In a move of desperation, Ticketmaster and Gaga's PR team sent out press releases that Gaga's three dates in the UK had sold out in five minutes. This was a way to give an illusion that there was great demand to see Lady Gaga. But what really happened is that after five minutes, thousands of tickets were moved to Ticketmaster's secondary site GetMeIn, where Ticketmaster is selling the tickets for twice as much. Even worse, it is believed that Ticketmaster themselves held back thousands of tickets to give an illusion that there is great demand. There is some demand, but things don't look good considering Gaga is downsizing her venues from stadiums to small music theaters.
"I can't believe Lady Gaga would pull such a stunt and rip off all her fans," a Twitter user named LilmonsterLuke angrily said. A lot of other fans were angry as well, with many saying they will no longer support the fallen pop superstar. Some even believe Ticketmaster should be investigated. "Why can't Gaga sell out tickets the honest way instead of big PR stunts?" another fan said.
Lady Gaga's ARTRAVE Tour begins in the United States this May. Let's see how long this tour lasts without another "hip injury" to cover up for poor ticket sales.
