Yes, they know that ABC cancelled their beloved show “One Life To Live.” Yes, they are crying as the final scenes are airing. Many fans are even saving these final scenes to replay over and over, again. They even know that Prospect Park says they do not have the funds to continue this show online like they planned. However, the true fans are not giving up hope to save “One Life To Live.” They are also not giving up on the idea of saving “All My Children.”
Why? Many of these fans believe in miracles. Many of these fans know that there is a need for these shows in the world. There are few soap operas left and none with the continued growth of ratings like “One Life To Live. As for “All My Children,” it could see continue growth in ratings, with the right people behind it. Many of these fans also know that under the right leadership that these shows could make a huge profit.
What are standing in the way of the fans and another network? ABC/Disney and Prospect Park are the ones standing in the way. According to all reports, these corporations still have the rights to these shows. These corporations also have no use for these shows. Yet, rumors state that there is interest from other networks to produce and to broadcast these shows, if these corporations would give up their hold. What is stopping them?
Could it be greed and money, the two very things that caused them to cancel “One Life to Live” and “All My Children” in the first place? So what will the fans do?
Cry? Yes, they are sure to do this. But crying can make some people stronger. Once the tears are dried, they will continue fighting as they have been. They will continue calling and writing ABC/Disney. They will continue contacting their stock owners. They will continue contacting their sponsors. They will continue making plans on media sites. They will continue trying to contact the media.
The fans won’t forget “One Life To Life” just because the show is no longer airing. Plus, they won’t be satisfied just because 4, 5 6 or even 7 of its former cast members are joining “General Hospital.” The only way for the fans to be satisfied and for ABC/Disney to get any peace from them is to find a way to give up their rights to “One Life to Life” and to find a way for this show to begin airing, again. Then maybe in time the fans will quit thinking of them as corporate rats and they can begin repairing their image.
