Fans of children's fiction will not want to miss two upcoming author events at Hicklebee's in San Jose this month. Fancy Nancy illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser will be at Hicklebee's on Monday, February 13 from 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. The author and illustrator of children's books Chrysanthemum, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, and now Penny, Kevin Henkes will visit Hicklebee's on Tuesday, February 28 from 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Both Robin Preiss Glasser and Kevin Henkes are sure to delight audiences of all ages when they visit the children's bookstore.
Fancy Nancy is the subject of dozens of books written by Jane O'Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser. Fancy Nancy loves glamour, glitter, and all things girly including tiaras and feather boas. In addition to the Fancy Nancy books, Robin Preiss Glasser is also the illustrator of Tea for Ruby by Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, A is for Abigail: An Almanac of Amazing American Women by Lynne Cheney, and Daddy's Girl by Garrison Keillor, among others.
Kevin Henkes is the author/illustrator of Caldecott Award-winning titles which include Kitten's First Full Moon, Owen, and Julius, The Baby of the World. Reader-favorites Chrysanthemum and Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse are also written and illustrated by Kevin Henkes.
Each author/illustrator will be available to autograph copies of their books and will make a short presentation to the audience. Robin Preiss Glasser's newest title is Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet; Kevin Henkes newest title is Penny and Her Song. There is no charge to attend either of these children's fiction events and Hicklebee's will have plenty of books available for purchase.
