Cats and cat lovers will take over the Dulles Expo Center this weekend as the felines and their admirers gather for the 2011 National Capital Cat Show. The show, billed as the premier East Coast show of the Cat Fanciers’ Association, is expected to draw up to 450 cats competing in championship, premiership, kitten and household pets categories. Some of the cats will even step into the agility ring to show off their athletic prowess. In addition to the competition, a judge will present a parade of breeds to show and describe some of the over 40 pedigreed cat breeds that will be at this year’s show.
Visitors can also browse vendors’ booths for cat toys and all sorts of cat-related products and services. For those interested in adopting or purchasing a new pet, several rescue groups will have adoptable cats and kittens and some breeders will have pedigreed kittens for sale.
The show is open from 9:00 to 5:00 on Saturday, September 10, and 9:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, September 11, in the South Hall of the Dulles Expo Center. Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for children under 12 or seniors over 60.
