Sure, Atlanta has plenty of fine dining restaurants, but if you're looking for something kitschy and fun, check out newer spots like Bar Meatball and Palookaville. You might not think that meatballs and corn dogs qualify as event dining, but once you've visited these establishments, you'll quickly be a devout fan of both.
Bar Meatball in Virginia Highlands offers authentic Italian flavors in delicious, savory bites. Vegetarians aren't left out of the mix, as the arancini risotto balls are cheesey, tasty treats, and there are several pasta options as well. The meatballs come in a serving of four, in your carnivorous choice of meat and sauce, and they are easy to share with friends, or you can choose from a variety of sliders. It's a great spot for a first date or meeting up with a group of friends. There are also several rich milkshake options, with and without alcohol.
Boozy shakes are also on hand at Palookaville in Avondale Estates. The decor is overwhelmingly fun and kid-friendly, with carnival-style creatures peeking out from every corner. The star of the show is the corn dog, which is offered in several different sausage styles and with your choice of breading, even including a cheese batter. If you've brought a big appetite (or a friend), consider the Fryinstein Monster, which combines three different types of meat in one giant dog. You'll also find old-fashioned egg creams and every flavor of soda you could possibly imagine. Just be warned -the french fry portions are larger than you will expect, so plan on sharing!
Consider one of these spots for your next dining adventure as part of a great staycation right here in Atlanta.
