Fan falls from escalator and is in critical condition after Giants vs. Redskins game

Sunday, a fan fell from an escalator about 21 feet at MetLife Stadium after an NFL game; the fan was in critical condition and taken immediately to Hackensack University Hospital. Over 80,000 fans were at the NFL game.

The New Jersey State Police said that the fan fell from an escalator at approximately 4 p.m. after the New York Giants and Washington Redskins game and the drop was about 20 feet. The police said that it was unclear why or how the fan fell.

The police described the fan as a 42-year-old man who fell over the side of the escalator and landed on a metal stage below.

He was airlifted to Hackensack University Hospital and still in the hospital Monday morning. The police said that the investigation about why and how the fan fell is ongoing.

The Giants beat the Redskins during the NFL game 27-23.
