Famous twin dies: Vivian Brown of San Francisco was 85

A famous twin died last week in Rhoda Goldman Plaza, an assisted care facility. According to information made available on Jan. 11, 2013, 85-year-old Vivian Brown died on Wednesday. She passed away in her sleep less than two weeks from what would have been her 86th birthday. Brown had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and the assisted care facility in San Francisco was her home for the last year of her life, according to The San Francisco Chronicle.

Vivian Brown and her twin sister Marian were local San Francisco celebrities known for their vivacious personalities and flamboyant attire. The affable sisters posed for pictures with locals and tourists alike for more than four decades. However, their fame extended beyond their hometown. The pair of diminutive women starred in several television commercials for internationally known companies such as Dell Computer, Virgin Airlines, AT&T, Joe Boxer Shorts and Reebok.

Vivian Brown, a famous twin, died leaving behind her slightly younger sister Marian, who has said her final wish is to be buried near her sister in San Francisco. Vivian was born just eight minutes before her surviving sibling on Jan. 25, 1927.
