As the American media has turned its world renown short attention span to various forms of political Kabuki Theater in Washington, DC, real life-or-death situations still happen in corners of the globe that not that long ago had the rapt attention of the nation's Alphabet Networks. Case in point: the burgeoning famine in war-torn Syria, as reported by The Washington Times and the New York Daily News, both on Oct. 16, 2013.
Hunger is now at a point where various Muslim clerics in the West Asian nation have declared a fatwa (religious ruling) allowing Muslims to eat animals normally forbidden to consume.
Specifically; dogs, cats and donkeys.
One of the clerics, Salah al-Khatib explained his dispensation on consuming the prohibited-by-Islamic-law animals:
Not because it is religiously permitted, but because it is a reflection of the reality we are suffering.
There's Bad, And The There's Really Bad...
In more than a few Syrian towns and villages, life can sometimes be indistinguishable from two millennia past.
Donkeys can be said to be worth their weight in gold, being instrumental in everything from plowing fields to bulk transportation.
Whereas cats are revered, many followers of Mohammed consider dogs as not only filthy, but sinful to even touch:
The impurity of dogs is the greatest of animal impurities. The impurity of a dog can only be removed by washing seven times, one of which should be with earth. Even pigs, which the Qur’aan states are haraam [forbidden/filthy] and describes as an abomination (rijs) are not naajis (impure) to such an extent.
Dogs are impure and filthy, but unfortunately we find that some people are attracted to the ways of the kuffaar [derogatory term for all non-Muslims] and their filthy habits, so they have started to keep dogs unnecessarily for no reason, keeping them, training them and cleaning them even though they can never be clean, even if they were washed with the waters of the ocean, because they are essentially impure.
Your Tax Dollars Hard At Work...
As previously covered by Examiner.com, the Obama Administration is already sending American taxpayer expenditures to Syria, not in the form of food and clothing, but comprised of weaponry in the form of standard shoulder fired weapons, to explosives, to the much more powerful anti-tank guided missiles.
Both Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain have voiced support approval of the same "rebel" groups whose both leadership and rank and file are comprised of al-Qaeda-allied terrorists.
