I wonder when we will start to take marriage a lot more seriously, because based on what I am seeing, this country and much of the world is not standing up for the most sacred union in the book of law.
The people of Maryland are the latest to enact their approval for same sex marriage and as you would imagine, there is nothing being said about it. Before you start sending me hate mail, let me tell you why I am holding this opinion.
The leaders in the Catholic church are up in arms about same sex marriage and so they should be, but everyone who has ever been to the Catholic church knows that they don't spend a lot of time in the bible, which means that the only knowledge they have about marriage is what their priests and leaders tell them.
Much of the rest of the population has paid closer attention to the words of the good book, so we know better. I heard someone suggest that because these new laws are passing a little more often that there must be greater acceptance of that kind of lifestyle. Who writes this stuff?
Nine times out of ten, if someone votes to approve a bisexual form of “marriage”, they are doing it because they have a family member who has chosen to live that way, not because they approve. Look, I am not condemning anyone for the things they do, but don't expect me to approve of it, especially not vote it into law.
There are many reasons why homosexuality is taking the lead in the news and in the voting booths, and it is not because more people are beginning to support it. But I guess if that helps us rationalize our sinful ways, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, more power to you.
