Family smokes on plane forcing it to land in Bermuda (Video)

A flight was grounded today after a family started smoking on board. According to a Feb. 4 report from Travelers Today, three people refused to put out their cigarettes on a flight from Halifax, Canada to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic late last week.

Sources say the trio appeared to be a father, mother and son team. The parents were in their 50s and the son was in his early 20s. The family of smokers lit up in the washroom and argued with attendants when confronted.

The flight was forced to land in Bermuda Friday night because of the smokers. The Bermuda police department came on to the plane to arrest the three smoking passengers. They were later released on bail, but the police took their passports and they are not allowed to leave the island at this time.

The smoking family was on Sunwing Flight 454. Smoking on airlines is highly prohibited.
