According to Wednesday's Wood 8 News, a family in Grand Rapids Township, Mich., is mourning the loss of their dog who was shot and killed late last week by a neighbor.
When Princess, a beagle, slipped out of her guardian's yard on Friday, she was shot and killed - the dog was still wearing her collar and identification tags when she was found.
Princess' owner, Travis Lucas, told Wood 8 News:
Who would want to do that to that little sweet dog?
When the neighbor, who is not identified, shot Princess, the dog was just 150 yards from her home. Rather than phoning the dog's owner, or calling animal control, the dog who slept Travis Lucas' daughter's bed at night was killed.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Department has been notified about the shooting and they are investigating - the neighbor may be facing a felony charge of animal cruelty.
