Family pet set on fire allegedly by her own family

Arcadia, Fla. - A group of kids witnessed a grisly scene yesterday of a dog that was set on fire. A volunteer member of the Hardee Animal Rescue Team, or "H.A.R.T.," happened to also see the disturbing event while driving by. She immediately took the badly burned and suffering dog, now named Hope, to the vet for treatment.

Although no charges have yet been made in connection with this crime, investigators allege Hope was set on fire by none other than her own family in Arcadia, according to My Fox Tampa Bay.

As is evident from Hope's images, her injuries are quite extensive. (WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES) Despite her injuries and obvious pain, she still wags her tail, according to a post on H.A.R.T.'s facebook page. Such is the nature of the canine species. They are forgiving to a fault.

Call it divine intervention, but had it not been for the children and the animal rescue volunteer, Hope - who is only about one year old - would not be alive today. Covered in all those bandages, Hope pretty much looks like a mummy, but at least she is expected to survive.

As Hope bravely fights to recover from the serious injuries sustained by being set on fire, her vet bills are already at $4,500 and they continue to mount as her vet care continues.

If you can spare a few dollars to help a small rescue with Hope's treatments, please make a tax deductible donation to H.A.R.T. by clicking here.
