The family of a dog killed by police in West Virginia wants to see the officer responsible fired. WTOV9 reported the story May 19.
This Examiner article covered the story on May 3.
Shadow, a German Shepherd black beauty, was killed April 30 when East Wheeling police were flagged down by a person who reported being chased by the dog. The family insists Shadow isn't aggressive.
Now an online petition has collected over 3,000 signatures asking for Officer Kyle Mull to be removed from his job as a police officer.
Officer Mull is also being questioned about his Twitter updates, pointing out
"i really wish it wasn’t frowned upon to kill your dog.”
The investigation continues, and Wheeling Police Department Chief Shawn Schwertfeger assures the community his officers will learn from this incident.
Schwertfeger is waiting for the decision by investigators before deciding the fate of Officer Mull, which is standard procedure anytime an officer fires his weapon.
A protest was held Monday in front of the City County Building, where signs were held up asking for justice for Shadow.
More on this tragedy as information becomes available.
