The body of an unidentified man was found face down in a creek Saturday morning in Gwinnett County. And police are trying to confirm if it’s the body of a missing man whose family was out searching the woods when he was found.
Around 11:45 a.m., officers responded to 4076 Sudderth Road in an unincorporated area of Buford after getting a call about a body being found, according to Gwinnett County police.
Family members of the missing male had been searching for him when they located his body lying face down in a creek, police spokesman Officer Jeffery Richter said.
They believe the body belong to their relative and have identified him as Mr. Scotty Maddox, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Still, police have not confirmed the man’s identity and they said the cause of death has not yet been determined, Officer Richter said.
Members of the Gwinnett County Police Homicide Unit were dispatched to the scene, along with members of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office, he said.
