If you are a Clevelander looking for a local excursion of family-friendly Halloween fun, look no further than the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad's upcoming "Pumpkin Express" train rides.
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad "Pumpkin Express" One of the oldest tourist excursion railways in the United States, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is offering their special "Pumpkin Express" excursions on Saturday, October 19, Sunday, October 20, Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27.
Passengers will travel through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park to Szalay's Farm Market in Peninsula. A costume parade will be held on board the train as it travels southbound toward Szalay's. Upon arriving at Szalay's, passengers will be able to visit one of the area's largest corn mazes (approximately 3 acres) and swing on their giant swings.
Each passenger will receive a free pumpkin and there will be plenty of time to shop at the fresh food market. Items available for purchase include fresh cider and homemade apple fritters.
Photo opportunities abound with the market's huge displays of pumpkins and Halloween decorations.
The "Pumpkin Express" train excursions leave from the Brecksville Station (13512 Station Rd.) at 9:35 a.m. and at 1:25 p.m. all four days. Be sure to arrive early as the boarding of the train begins a half hour before the scheduled departure time.
Cost of the "Pumpkin Express" train excursion is $25 for adults and $18 for children. Advance ticket purchase is recommended as the popular train excursions tend to sell out. Tickets can be purchased online at the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad's website at www.cvsr.com or call 800-468-4070.
