Brian Griffin, the sophisticated canine character on FOX's Family Guy animated series, was resurrected on Sunday night's episode entitled "The Christmas Guy" to the relief of fans. After having been killed off three weeks ago, last night Stewie performed a Christmas miracle and used his newly-repaired time machine to bring Brian back to life, according to E! News on Dec. 15. The episode is being seen today as a reminder about the how fragile life can be.

On Sunday night's episode of "Family Guy", the new family pooch Vinnie is still seen in the opening credits. However, as the show unfolds, Stewie and Vinny visit a toy store where he runs into a future version of himself.

Stewie soon realizes future Stewie has a time machine pad in his backpack. After a few moments of teasing viewers with debate, the urbane baby with a football head finally decides to give fans at home the best holiday gift of all - he goes back in time and resurrects Brian Griffin.

The Hollywood Gossip called the whole controversial story arc a warm and fuzzy holiday lesson, to never take those you love for granted, because they can be gone in a flash.

The storyline sparked debate among TV viewers and critics, who debated whether Brian's return was a clever plot twist or a cheap trick.

Some even trotted out similar occurrences on past TV shows. Think Bobby Ewing's shower scene on the original "Dallas".

And anyone who's ever watched daytime soap operas knows dead never really means dead in Hollyweird land.

After the episode aired, creator Seth MacFarlane tweeted, "I mean, you didn’t really think we’d kill off Brian, did you? Jesus, we’d have to be f*cking high".

Did you ever think Brian was gone for good?
