Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane will make David Hasselhoff cry on August 1st.
As you've probably already heard, David Hasselhoff is the next washed-up celebrity to be awarded a very public verbal assault on Comedy Central. Each year, the network selects one very unlucky celebrity to be roasted by some of the best (and some of the worst) standup comedians currently working, and the former Knight Rider star was announced as this year's target about a month ago. What you might not know (unless you just received the same press release that I did) is that Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane will be leading the charge on the Roastee this year. One can only hope that this means Comedy Central's 2010 Roast will be more offensive than ever before. Read all about it below, my gentle Examiner readers...
David Hasselhoff was announced as the "man of honor" for this year's Comedy Central Roast about a month ago, and you may have already seen some of the commercials the network's been airing to promote the event (if not, see below). In case you've been in a coma for the past decade: each year Comedy Central selects one very unlucky celebrity to be verbally assaulted by a team of standup comics, records the results, and airs it for your entertainment. It's all in good fun, and it's generally extremely offensive. This year, things may be even more offensive than usual, as this just happened:
A storm’s a-brewin’ as Comedy Central makes waves for Roastee David Hasselhoff. The network announced today that Emmy-nominated "Family Guy" creator, animator, actor, director and singer Seth McFarlane will join the elite family of Comedy Central Roast Masters as he heads up an all-star lineup of Roasters who reign paramount in their respective arenas, including the world’s most bonafide sex symbol, bone crushing wrestler, controversial talk show host and ruthless comedic masterminds.
Yes, Family Guy creator and controversy-magnet Seth McFarlane will be the Roastmaster at this year's Roast, and we should all assume that this means things will be even more mean-spirited and raw than usual. McFarlane's Family Guy has been a frequent target for the sort of people who get offended every ten minutes by something they've seen on television, and the series is noted for its wildly distasteful (but that's not to say always unfunny) punchlines. Bringing McFarlane to the party means that we should expect something that'll offend oversensitive viewers, but it's anyone's guess as to what that might turn out to be. I'm guessing it'll involve poo, though, as McFarlane's big on poo jokes.

Over the last few years, Comedy Central's Roasts have turned out to be extremely funny in some cases, extremely lame in others. Really, it depends on who's being roasted and who's doing the roasting, as a boring target is just as bad as a half-assed comedian going after that target. Having David Hasselhoff as the target is a step in the right direction for this year's entry, so let's hope that Comedy Central brings their A-game with the roasters when this thing airs on August 1st (check local listings). In case you haven't already seen the commercials for the show, here's one of 'em now:

Assuming that every comedian involved doesn't make the same "HAHA YOU GOT DRUNK AND ATE CHEEZBURGR" joke over and over, I think this one might just be the best Roast we've seen in years. Whatta you guys think? Sound off in the comments section below if you've got something you'd like to say about the upcoming David Hasselhoff Roast, my precious snowflakes. And, as per usual, stay tuned for any future updates concerning the Roast as we get closer to August 1st!
