Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane picked up a nomination for the 2012 Grammy Awards tonight for his pop album of standards, one of two nods MacFarlane received for the show.
Though many people may not be aware, MacFarlane recorded a traditional pop album of standards called "Music Is Better Than Words." It's a nominee for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. MacFarlane reveals a strong, elegant voice perfectly suited for that style of music.
But don't get your hopes up, Family Guy fans. Check out MacFarlane's competition: Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand, Harry Connick Jr., and Susan Boyle. If MacFarlane wins, it will go down as one of the biggest upsets in the history of the Grammys.
MacFarlane is also nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media for "Christmastime is Killing Us," a track from Family Guy itself.
His competition there includes two Diane Warren-penned songs ("You Haven't Seen the Last Of Me" by Cher and "Born To Be Somebody" by Justin Bieber), and tracks from Footloose, Winnie the Pooh, and Tangled.
