The Hub Network premieres 4 new games tonight on their Emmy Award winning game show, "Family Game Night.”
Hosted by Todd Newton, the series returns with four all-new, larger-than-life versions of classic games, including Jenga, Monopoly remix, Barrel of Monkeys and Yahtzee. The returning games have a new flavor this season as well with such fan favorites as Battleship, Connect 4 Basketball, Sorry and Operation to name a few.
As always, every competing family will play the Community Chest round and one family will get to play the final Monopoly Cray round for a chance to compete to win a cash prize and a new car.
“I'm a firm believer that the games show the only real reality television out there,” Newton said during the interview. “I think the reason they been around for as long as they have and the reason they dipped and come back however you want to said is because we love the authenticity of seeing people win. We love rooting for people we don't even know. I get to experience that in person. Game shows are what I love. It’s what I do, they're all I want to do and I've been really fortune to work with some of the greats that taught me how to do it right.
When asked what his “go-to” game is at home, Newton keeps it simple. “It used to be Twister,” he said.”But my kids have gotten a little too good at Twister and I've gotten a little too old for Twister. So now I'm pretty wicked at Battleship. And it's got nothing to do with the fact that I can see over the top of my opponent’s boards. (Laughs) It’s got nothing to do with that at all.”
