Huntsville, Alabama, offers diversity for families. A favorite of adults and kids is the US Space and Rocket Center. It is the home of Space Camp and is considered one of the most comprehensive US manned space flight hardware museums in the world. The restored Saturn V hangs 10 feet above the floor in the Davidson Center for Space Exploration. Visitors learn about the rocket race, the space shuttle program and the International space station. From now until September 2, 2012, a fantastic “Mammoths and Mastodons” exhibition will capture the imaginations of all who see it. For more information, visit http://www.rocketcenter.com/mu/overview.
Nearby, the Huntsville Botanical Gardens offers an overload of sensory delight. Find native butterflies in the Nature Center and butterfly sculptures throughout the park.
The Garden features events throughout the year including the Scarecrow Trail in the fall. Be sure to visit their website at http://www.hsvbg.org for information.
To end a busy day, try Rosie’s Mexican Cantina. The food is excellent and their Tres Leches (Three Milk) cake is a delight.
You can spend a day but you’ll need longer to enjoy Huntsville’s charm and all the city has to offer.
