Those visiting Portland this weekend might want to stop off at the Lifewise Oregon Berry Festival for a sample of Oregon's best berries ranging from Marionberries and Ollalieberries to blueberries and strawberries.
During this 2-day family friendly, free event festival goers can stop by a main stage replete with entertainment and cooking demos. Check out. wellness and health seminars and the 2-day farmers market. Those with young children can check out the children's booth with crafts and activities. Among the new features for this year include a Know Your Oregon Berries booth, which will provide information about berries including harvest dates, berry handling and storage tips. This year, the festival held at the Ecotrust Event Space (NW 10th Ave and NW Johnson St in Portland will run from noon to 6pm on Friday, July 18 and 11am to 5pm on Saturday, July 19.
Following the festival at 6pm, foodies can savor the Gala Berry Dinner presented by Townsend Farms., a family farm with over 100 years of farming in the Pacific Northwest. This dinner held on the rooftop of the Ecotrust Building in Portland’s Pearl Districti is prepared by award winning Portland Chef Jenn Louis of Lincoln and Sunshine Tavern. This four course berry fest will pair local wines with Oregon's premium berries. Tickets for this 120-seat dinner are $95 and can be purchased here.
Also, July has been designated LifeWise Oregon Berry Festival Restaurant Month, with berry-centric menu items offered at local Portland restaurants.
