Until September 30th, Fontenelle Forest Nature Center is presenting ‘Ice Age: The real story’ in their exhibition center located in the main entrance lodge. Additional components of the exhibit are outdoors making for a fun family activity.
Much better than sitting on the couch watching tv, Fontenelle Forest gets us up and moving – educating and having fun. The ice age exhibit boasts a mummified baby mammoth that shouldn’t be missed. A cool cave presents an opportunity for exploration that families will find enticing.
The exhibit includes a fossil dig so come prepared for little hands to get a little dirty. Afterwards there are plenty of trails that haven’t been flooded for additional family exploration.
Members get in free. Non-members have a $7 admission, children 2 and under are free.
Some of the creatures often seen in the forest include painted turtles, deer, falcons, and goldfinches. Make sure to pick up a map of the trails when entering. The map will tell where trails intersect and how long they are so a family can gauge the distance they want to go. Remember to double the distance for the round trip when necessary.
Hurry down for this summer fun.
