Family fun and healthy activities for January (Photos)

January is a good time to start healthy activities that can be enjoyed by the entire family. In Orange County there are many parks; walking, cycling, and hiking trails; and water activities in the beautiful Pacific Ocean, just off our shores. Most of them are free or cost very little to enjoy and should be added to all New Year's resolutions as a good way to stay healthy during the year

Saturday, Jan. 19 between noon and 3 p.m. there will be Naturalist led hikes, games, nature crafts and other activities held in Peters Canyon Regional Park, 8548 E. Canyon View Ave, Orange. The 354-acre park is a blend of native vegetation and scenic trails, where one can see wildlife and birds among the groves of willows and black cottonwoods, and where everyone is encouraged to come and participate in the activities. Best of all these are free activities, visit here for more information or call 714-708-3885.

Gray whales migrate off the shores of Southern California between Dec and April each year. With the proximity of the cities along the coast, 'Whale watching' excursions are offered each year from both Dana Point and Newport Beach. Contacting one of these companies will give all the information needed to reserve a place, on the date and time, best suited to each person.
