The 2011 Pedal With Pete bike/hike event is slated for tomorrow, June 4, in Kent.
The event's full name - the Pedal To Make a Difference Bike & Hike Event barely fits on a t-shirt, but that's not important. What is important is that the ride, the routes, and the people involved in this event make it one of the nicest and best ones for families in the entire north half of Ohio. All proceeds from the ride go toward cerebral palsy research.
Three bike routes of different lengths are offered, and all are well-marked. The courses traverse pretty, safe roads, travel on the paved Hike and Bike Trail for several miles, and the longer routes visit beautiful, historic neighborhoods in Silver Lake and Hudson.
This year, the event has a new start/finish point, at Faith Lutheran Church in Kent. The longer route (60 miles) features a rest area, which will offer light refreshments and water. More refreshments will be provided to riders at the end of the event; there's also a raffle that usually includes some very cool prizes. Walkers can choose to do either two- or four-mile routes. Both are barrier-free.
Check-in starts at 7:30am and participants are to be on their way by 9:30am. Will you be there?
