Family-friendly activities near the Five Points MARTA station

If you are looking for family activities near MARTA, the Five Points station downtown has a few destinations to check out and one major event that is a crowd-pleaser. Read on to see what there is to do for kids of all ages.

Peach Drop

For a day and evening full of activities geared toward families, the Peach Drop on New Year's Eve is a great event for using MARTA. A giant peach drops at midnight right next to the station, which is followed by a fireworks show. Earlier in the day adults can enjoy several stages of live music while the kids can get their face painted or go on carnival rides. The event is free.

Underground Atlanta

For a little history and an opportunity to purchase souvenirs, head to Underground Atlanta, which is directly connected to the MARTA station near the Peachtree Street station exit. The underground mall showcases original building storefronts and water fountains, plus the kids will love Häagen-Dazs® ice cream or eating a burger at Johnny Rockets, a restaurant set up as an old diner. Don't miss the food trucks above Underground Atlanta on Wednesdays.

Braves Game

You can also get on the Braves Shuttle at the far end of Underground Atlanta and enjoy the fresh air, city views and baseball. The shuttle is free as long as you are transferring from the train. The shuttle begins 90 minutes before game time and ends at 9 p.m.or after right after the 7th inning. Friday nights feature fireworks, and you can enroll your child in the Kids Club for extra perks.

ATL-Cruzer Tour

Take a tour of Atlanta in an open-air electric vehicle, starting from Upper Alabama Street just across from the station. Reserve your space with ATL-Cruzers for an hour jaunt around town and learn about the city. Children must be at least 8 years old or 4'9" tall.

Woodruff Park
Woodruff Park has recently added a new playground, which can be a fun stop for the kids. The park is on the smaller side and one corner is typically full of people playing chess while the far end has water fountains. Take the Peachtree Street exit out of the station and turn left. The park is about a block up.
