Family finds knife baked into Walmart Birthday cake

You may have heard of Fat Tuesday King Cakes with tiny doll toys hidden inside.

But what about a knife embedded in the batter of a Birthday cake?

Well apparently it happened at a Walmart in Maine, when a Lewiston father says he found a knife in his son's birthday cake. This is all according to WGME News.

Nathan Bibeau says when his family was cutting into his son's Elmo-themed birthday cake, he found a pairing knife inside.

The family says they called Walmart immediately.

WGME News 13 contacted Walmart, who released this response, "This should not have happened. We're thankful no one was hurt and sincerely apologize to our customers for their experience. We are reaching out to the family to resolve this."

Walmart says it is also taking immediate action to make sure this doesn't happen again. The store is pulling that particular paring knife from its bakery in Maine and considering pulling the knife from bakeries across the country.

Bibeau tells News 13, Walmart did offer him a refund but he believes that's still not enough.

"We're not going to get that second birthday back," said Bibeau.

It's becoming more of an issue having foods with pieces of plastic, glass and metal in the product. We've told you recently about Kellogg's Special K Red Berries having glass particles in it, Frosted Mini Wheats with metal pieces in the cereal and two sausage recalls with plastic parts in the casing.
