An upcoming fan convention to honor singer Davy Jones of the Monkees will feature two members of the Monkees and members of his family.
The David T. Jones Memorial Monkees Convention will be held March 1-3 at The Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center, 2 Meadowlands Plaza, East Rutherford, N.J., it was announced Thursday.
Headlining the list of guests will be two of his fellow Monkees, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork. Also in attendance will be Jones' four daughters Talia, Sarah, Jessica and Annabel.
Also on hand will be TV actors David Cassidy from “The Partridge Family” and most of “The Brady Bunch” cast on which Davy Jones appeared: Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, Mike Lookinland, Susan Olsen and Geri Reischl.
There will be several others who appeared on “The Monkees,” including actress/singer Deana Martin, Dean Martin's daughter, who also dated Davy; Butch Patrick, who played Eddie Munster on “The Munsters," actresses Donna Loren and Arlene Martel, and radio personality Jerry Blavet ("The Geater With The Heater"), who all made appearances on “The Monkees.”
Also appearing will be Archies' lead singer Ron Dante, who was one of Jones' record producers, singer Gary DeCarlo of Steam ("Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye") who appeared with Davy Jones on his last PBS-TV concert appearance and members of Jones' touring band.
Additionally, there will be appearances by Monkees historians Gary Strobl, Brad Waddell and Fred Velez; rock photographer Henry Diltz, who photographed the group; authors Eric Lefkowitz, Rob Sheffield and Seth Swirsky; Hullabaloo dancer Lada Edmunds Jr., and artist Shannon, known for her Beatles art, who will be introducing her "7 Faces of Davy" collection. Other guests are being added.
There will be live concert performances, special guest interviews, autograph and photo opportunities, question and answer sessions; a mammoth Monkees music & memorabilia marketplace and rock & roll flea market, art exhibits, film and video showings, the "David T. Jones Message of Hope" book project, auctions and more. The MonkeeMobile will be on display, as will a collection of '60s clothing.
Some of the convention proceeds will benefit the Davy Jones Equine Memorial Fund. Jones was an avid horseman, and the charity ensures the care of the horses he loved.
